Germany offers two major intakes for international students a year. 

Intakes Available:

  • Winter Intake: Begins in September / October
  • Summer Intake: Begins in March / April

Application Deadlines:

  • Winter Intake: Applications will be open from 15th December to 31st March
  • Summer Intake: Applications will be open from 15th August to 15th January

The above deadlines may vary based on the university and courses. It is recommended to verify the dates and admission requirements with Yeloria directly or with the institutions itself. 

Students must have completed 12 years of schooling education to be eligible for undergraduate programs. However, some universities prefer 13 years of education. And for post graduate programs Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in the preferred field.

How to get the 13-Year Requirement:

International students can meet this requirement through either of the following pathways:

Option 1: Successfully complete one year of a Bachelor’s program at any recognised Indian university in a related field of study which you prefer to choose in Germany. 

Option 2: Enroll in a Foundation Year  in Germany to complete the additional academic year.

Academic Score:

A minimum of 60% or above in 12th grade is  required for admission into most public and private universities for undergraduate programs.

A minimum of 60% or above in your Bachelor’s program is required for admission to most public and private universities for post graduate programs.



Germany Student Visa Requirements for UG & PG Courses (2025)

If you are a non-EU/EEA international student, studying in Germany would in most cases require the student visa. Students from countries like India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Nepal, Bangladesh, and so forth fall under this category.Germany Student Visa Requirements for UG (Undergraduate) Courses

  1. Valid Passport: Your passport must remain valid for the whole time you are visiting and staying in  Germany. 
  2. An admission letter from a Studienkolleg, or any accredited German University or college ,will serve as the basic for undergraduate studies. And for Post Graduation courses, a degree from any institution or university from your country or Germany is mandatory. 
  3. Documentation of Academic Qualifications: Transcripts from universities or education board, 10th,  12th grade and degree certificates, and admission requirements for higher education courses.
  4. Confirmation of Blocked Accounts /Evidence of Financial Resources: You need to deposit approximately €11,208 (as of 2025) into a German blocked account.
  5. Health Insurance: A valid international or German health insurance policy need to be taken in your name. 
  6. Visa Application Form: Biometric photos and a filled-out, signed visa application form.
  7. Motivation Letter & CV: A well-written CV and a statement of purpose which gives an outline of  your purpose and objectives.
  8. Payment of the Visa Fee: Approximately €75 must be paid in person at the consulate.


Germany Processing Time for Student Visas (2025)

Processing a visa takes 4–12 weeks, depending on the density at the consulate and your country of residence. You should apply at least three months before the start of your course.



IELTS Requirements:

An overall IELTS band score of 6.5, is commonly accepted by German universities for English based Bachelor’s programs.

  • SAT Requirement (for Constructor University): For applying to Constructor University, a minimum SAT score of 1200 is required.
  • TOEFL: A minimum score of 80+ on the TOEFL is accepted.

Duolingo and MOI are also accepted in some private universities. 

GRE Requirement:

GRE/GMAT is mandatory for highly ranked universities especially for mechanical and automobile courses. A GRE score of 310+ is considered good and can take your application to top reach and to top-ranked universities.

IELTS

  • IELTS has two type: Academic (for higher education/professional registration) and General Training (for migration or work). Academic is compulsory for students applying to English taught German universities.
  • Test Format:  Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Listening, Reading, and Writing will be  on the same day and  Speaking will be on another day.. Duration:2 hrs 45 minutes.

SAT

SAT is for English-taught undergraduate programs.

  • Test Format: It is a digital test with reading, writing, and mathematical aptitude. 
  • Duration: 2hrs 14 minutes.

GRE / GMAT

GRE is for all graduate program while GMAT is  for business courses.

  • Test Format: GRE (1 hr 58 mins), GMAT (2 hrs 15 mins) which includes verbal, quant, and analytical sessions.

For measuring academic English for both study and migration.
